Fourteen years ago, rising star Cris Collinsworth agreed to host a golf tournament in Gainesville, Florida to help fund a new facility for addictions treatment. Today, the Cris Collinsworth Benefit Classic hosts about 500 celebrity and company golfers for a full weekend of golf and fun, raising about $150,000 a year. With Cris' strong support, the tournament is one of the most popular events in North Florida. A three-time Pro Bowl player during his eight-year NFL career, Cris Collinsworth was one of the Bengals' most productive receivers, catching 417 passes for nearly 6,700 yards, including four 1,000 yard seasons. Collinsworth played in Super Bowls XVI and XXIII and ranks first on the Bengals' all-time career reception list. Collinsworth began broadcasting after his retirement from the Bengals in 1989, serving first as a feature reporter on HBO's Inside the NFL." Since that time, his assignments for HBO have included Wimbledon coverage, a variety of documentaries and an expanded role as co-host of WLW Radio's Sports Talk show in Cincinnati since 1989, having succeeded former Cincinnati Bengal star Bob Trumpy. He currently co-hosts HBO's "Inside the NFL" with Nick Buonconti, Lenny Dawson and Jerry Glanville. Cris Collinsworth joined the NFL on NBC pre-game shows as studio commentator for seven seasons with NBC Sports. In the past, Collinsworth worked weekly NFL contests and also served as game analyst for select Notre Dame football games on NBC. Collinsworth was an NFL analyst on NBC during the 1990 season before returning to law school in 1991. He and former broadcast partner Tom Hammond called the action of the 1995 Orange Bowl national championship showdown between Nebraska and Miami, as well as the 1994 Fiesta Bowl. During the NBC's coverage of the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Collinsworth served as a reporter for the track-and-field competition. After the loss of NBC's contract with the NFL, Collinsworth signed a $5 million contract with FOX to serve as an analyst for their NFL show. Collinsworth graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in accounting. He was a wide receiver for the Gators and was named All-American. Collinsworth, his wife Holly, and their four children--Katie, Austin, Ashley and Jack--reside in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky."
