About Beth Daniel

Beth Daniel was born on October 14, 1956 in Charleston, SC. She graduated from Furman University with a degree in education. She joined the LPGA in January of 1979 and was named the LPGA Rookie of the Year that year. Her greatest early achievements include winning the 1981 Seagrams Seven Crowns of Sport Award for Women's Golf, the 1990 United Press International Female Athlete of the Year. As an amatuer, Daniel captured the U.S. Women's Amateur in 1975 and 1977 and was a member of the U.S. Curtis Cup team in 1976 and 1978. She also was a member of the World Cup Team in 1978. Her professional highlights are just as numerous. In 1994, she won her third Rolex Player of the Year Award and her third Vare Trophy honor. On top of that, she played in 25 tournaments and earned $659,426. She won four times in 1994: the LPGA Corning Classic, the Oldsmobile Classic, the JAL Big Apple Classic, and the World Championship of Women's Golf. She tied for second at the Standard Register PING and totaled 11 top-10 finishes. During the second round of the Olsmobile Classic, she tied her career-low score of 63, tying the LPGA's all-time 72-hole scoring record of 20-under-par. At that point, she crossed $4 million in career earnings. She was also a member of the victorious U.S. Solheim Cup team, as she was in 1990 and 1992. She also captained the victorious LPGA Nichirei International team. In 1995, she competed in 25 tournaments and earned $480,124. She captured her 32nd career victory at the PING Welch's Championship in Boston where she set the season-low winning score of 17-under-par. Also that year, she totaled 10 top-10 finishes and finished in the runner-up position four times. She also had three solo second-place finishes at the Chrysler-Plymouth Tournament of Champions, the HEALTHSOUTH Inaugural, the Standard Register PING, and a tie for second at the ShopRite LPGA Classic. In September of 1995, she was inducted into the South Carolina Golf Hall of Fame. A resident of Del Ray Beach, Fl., Beth has some impressive LPGA career statistics. She has had 32 career victories totalling earnings of $4,972,216, placing her third on the career money list. In addition, Beths lowest career round was a 63 and she has a playoff record of 5-6. Beth also has two career holes-in-one. She credits Derek Hardy, the late Davis Love, Jr., Dave Pelz and Jack Lumpkin as teachers most influencing her career.
