Robert Parish is a former American basketball player who played as a center. He played for the Golden State Warriors, the Boston Celtics, the Charlotte Hornets, and the Chicago Bulls. He was known for his incredible skills at defense and jump shooting, and was even inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003. In 1997, he was also named as one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History. His nickname was The Chief", after the fictitious Chief Bromden, a silent, huge Native American character in the film One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. According to Parish, former Celtics teammate Cedric Maxwell gave Parish this nickname because of his stoic nature. He played an NBA-record 1,611 regular season games in his career, making him the NBA leader in games played. He is a 4 times NBA Champion and a 9 times NBA All-Star His number 00 is retired by the Boston Celtics."
