Rosey first came into the national spotlight as an All-Pro defensive tackle with the New York Giants in 1955. He was later traded to the Los Angeles Rams, where he was one of the Fearsome Foursome," arguably the best defensive line in football history. Rosey was one of the first professional athletes to transition to show business after his retirement from football. He has starred in 10 movies, guest-starred in more than 70 television roles and has appeared in many national commercials and telethons. A superb singer, Rosey has performed at Carnegie Hall and other concert halls and cabarets across the country, and has recorded nationally distributed records. He has published a number of books as well, including "Needlepoint for Men," "Shooting Star," "American Heroes" and "Rosey: The Gentle Giant," all national successes. As a concerned citizen and a spokesman for the elderly and inner city youth of America, Rosey has been the recipient of several national honors and White House invitations. He is a valued friend of the powerful and the less fortunate. In 1984, Rosey established the national headquarters of his non-profit organization, "Are You Committed," in downtown Los Angeles, where he developed a series of prototypical educational and spiritual programs designed to train and benefit young people in the inner cities. In 1993 Rosey was elected to the Milken Family Foundation and CaP CURE's Board of Directors. Rosey was inducted into New Jersey's Sports Hall of Fame in May of 1997."
