Roger S. Penske is the founder and chairman of Penske Corporation, a closely held, diversified transportation services company, which includes: Penske Truck Leasing, Penske Automotive Group, UnitedAuto Group, Penske Capital Partners, Penske Transportation Components and Penske Performance. Penske Corporation and its subsidiaries manage and operate businesses with annual revenues approximating $11 billion, and they employ 35,000 people at more than 3,000 worldwide locations. Penske Truck Leasing is a global transportation services provider with annual revenues of approximately $3.4 billion. The company operates more than 206,000 vehicles and serves customers from approximately 1,000 locations in the United States, Canada, Mexico, South America and Europe. Product lines include full-service leasing, contract maintenance, commercial and consumer rental, integrated logistics services and supply chain management. Penske Automotive sells more than 44,000 vehicles annually from five locations in the Southern California market. The group retails Toyota, Lexus, Honda, Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar and Aston Martin vehicles. Longo Toyota, in El Monte, CA, is America's largest Toyota dealership. Penske Corporation and its affiliates are the largest stockholders of UnitedAuto Group. Penske Auto Centers LLC is the largest independent tire dealer in the United States with over 630 locations nationwide and more than 4,000 employees. Additional services offered include 30-minute oil changes, wheel alignments, ATF fluid exchanges and brake service. Penske Capital Partners (PCP), a venture formed with J.P. Morgan Partners, GE Capital and Aon Corporation, is focused on making strategic acquisitions in the transportation industry. Penske Transportation Components operations include Truck-Lite, which manufactures lighting products, harness systems and accessories for the transportation industry; Davco, which produces fuel filters and engine accessories; and Truck-Lite-Birmingham, a manufacturer of truck mirrors located in Birmingham, England. Penske Performance operates several automotive-related racing businesses; its teams hold numerous all-time racing records with 225 major race wins. Additionally, Penske Performance is the second largest shareholder of International Speedway Corporation (NASDAQ:ISCA), the leading motorsports company in the U.S., currently promoting more than 100 races annually. Penske Racing, Inc. is the most successful Indy car racing team in history with 110 race wins, highlighted by a record 11 Indianapolis 500 mile race victories, 11 National Championships, and 135 pole positions. Starting in 2002, Penske-prepared Dallara cars powered by Chevrolet engines are being driven by Gil de Ferran and Helio Castroneves in the Indy Racing League under the Marlboro Team Penske banner. Gil de Ferran, two-time CART FedEx Series Champion, also holds the World Closed-Course Speed Record of 241.428 mph; he has seven career victories and 16 pole positions. Helio Castroneves has seven career victories, including the 2001 Indianapolis 500, and seven pole positions. Penske Racing South, Inc. campaigns the Miller Lite Taurus which Rusty Wallace drives in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series of stock car races. Wallace has 54 career victories and 35 pole positions. Penske Racing South also fields the ALLTEL Taurus driven by Ryan Newman, who has posted four ARCA wins and three poles; one NASCAR Busch Grand National Series win and six poles; and one Winston Cup pole. In 2002, Newman will compete full-time in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. Mr. Penske serves as a director of General Electric Company, Delphi Automotive Systems Corporation, The Home Depot, Inc., and International Speedway Corporation. He is also a director of Detroit Renaissance and chairman of its Detroit Investment Fund. After completing his studies in business administration at Pennsylvania’s Lehigh University in 1959, Mr. Penske started his business career as a sales engineer for ALCOA. In 1964 he became the general manager of a Chevrolet dealership in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, which he purchased in 1965; and it became the cornerstone for his various transportation businesses. A native of Shaker Heights, Ohio, Mr. Penske, 65, resides in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, with his wife, Kathryn, and is the father of four sons and a daughter.
