Patrick Ewing, Sr. is a retired NBA Hall of Fame basketball player. After Patrick announced his retirement from the NBA, he worked as an assistant coach for several franchises and is currently the assistant coach for the Charlotte Hornets. During Patrick’s celebrated NBA career, he earned numerous achievements including being named an NBA All-Star eleven times, named to the All-NBA First Team one time, named a member of the All-NBA Second Team six times and named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team three times. Patrick was inducted into the Hall of Fame for his individual career and for his participation in the Olympics. Patrick became a two time Olympic gold medalist while playing for The Dream Team in U.S. men’s basketball but earned most of his accolades playing 15 seasons for the New York Knicks. Patrick has been selected as one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History. Before the NBA, Patrick's college basketball career already showed signs of greatness. He became one of the first college players to start and star on the varsity team as a freshman while at Georgetown University. ESPN named Patrick the sixteenth greatest college player of all time. Later, Patrick is still considered to be one of the greatest players in Knicks’ history. The New York Knicks honored Patrick and retired his former number, the No.33.
