About Luc Robitaille

As a major player in the worlds of sports, philanthropy, and business, hockey legend Luc Robitaille knows what it takes to be a successful leader and shows audiences how to use the qualities of a champion athlete to overcome challenges and reach their goals. In a 20-year NHL career from 1986 to 2006, he played for the Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers, Detroit Red Wings, and Pittsburgh Penguins. Robitaille retired as the all- time highest-scoring left winger in National Hockey League history and the holder of the Kings franchise record for goals. Robitaille was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in 1984, but wasn't drafted until the ninth round. Luc worked hard to improve, and ended up winning the Calder Trophy in 1986, as the league's best rookie. In his initial campaign with the Kings, he picked up a reputation not only as a talented young player and a goal sniper but as a lucky" one as well. For the next 7 seasons Luc became a fixture in Los Angeles helping to lead the team to their first appearance in the Stanley Cup Finals and being an annual league All Star. After the 2000-01 season, Luc left LA as a free agent and went to the Detroit Red Wings, winning the 2002 Stanley Cup Championship. Outside of Luc's NHL career he represented Canada at various international competitions, including the Canada Cup and the IIHF World Championships. One of Luc's proudest moments was being the Team Captain of Canada at the 1994 World Championships in Milan, Italy. Through his leadership and play Luc was able to lead Canada to their first World Championship since 1961, as Luc scored the championship goal in the shootout. Luc’s interests have also expanded to include a major philanthropic role. In 2005 he founded Shelter for Serenity, a nationwide disaster relief project, to provide housing support following the Gulf Coast disasters. With the help of friends and supporters, he has made it a personal mission to raise as many families as possible out of devastation by giving them an opportunity to start over. Shelter for Serenity's goal is to directly rebuild their lives - by helping get them on the road towards new homes, new jobs, and new futures. After retiring from the NHL in 2006 following 20 stellar seasons, Luc was named president of the United States Hockey League's Omaha Lancers. Luc established Raystone Productions, Inc., located in Los Angeles, California to build and acquire various properties for his personal portfolio. He has co-founded and operated, with various partnerships, a number of Ice-o-plex super centers in the southwestern US. Luc also participated in developing Billboard Live on the Sunset Strip. Luc is on the board of Nemex Network Corp., NRG, Interex, and Power Play Fund. He is currently an executive at AEG and an executive consultant for Amp’d Mobile."
