Dryden has written several highly acclaimed, best-selling books, including The Game (acknowledged by many as one of the finest hockey publications ever written) and Home Game which was developed into an award-winning documentary series for television. His most recent book, In School, is a masterful examination of Canadas education system. From 1997 to 2004, Ken Dryden was an executive of the Toronto Maple Leafs. In May 2004 he left his post as vice chairman of Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment to run as a Liberal candidate in the Toronto district of York Centre, replacing former Defence Minister Art Eggleton. Ken Dryden convincingly won the riding in the June federal election, and was sworn into Prime Minister Paul Martin's cabinet as Minister of Social Development one month later. A frequent lecturer, Dryden is known for his passionate views and willingness to tackle difficult issues with superb powers of observation, compassionate insight, honesty and humanity.
